Ministry of Education Branches

The Accountability, Assessment & Records Branch is responsible for the Pre-K-12 accountability system and the coordination of a comprehensive and integrated data system for improved student outcomes.

The Children's Services Branch provides strategic leadership within the preK-12 education sector in the area of Supports to Learning which includes Special Education and Intensive Supports, SchoolPLUS, Diversity, Caring and Respectful Schools, Provincial Alternative Special Needs Schools, Youth in Custody, Early School Entrance, Early Childhood Intervention Programming, and English as an Additional Language.

The Curriculum and E-Learning Branch is committed to working collaboratively with partners to enhance the Pre-K to 12 learning program and to provide supports to the Education Sector.

The Early Learning and Child Care Branch provides policy and program direction, financial, professional and evaluation supports and community partnerships related to early childhood development, licensed child care, KidsFirst and PreKindergarten programs and services.

The mandate of the Education Finance & Facilities Branch is to provide responsible, accountable and equitable management of the K-12 financing system, and capital funding for school facilities.

Welcome to the French Education Branch's (FEB) website. FEB provides French language educational services for Francophone, French Immersion and Core French programmes in Saskatchewan schools.

The First Nations and Métis Education Branch provides leadership to build capacity within Saskatchewan's provincial education system to transform and empower learning communities (children, youth, educators, families and communities) toward a shared and harmonious future.

The Policy, Evaluation and Legislative Services Branch provides corporate strategic, innovative and collaborative policy leadership and support through sound research, planning and evaluation to strengthen Saskatchewan's education sector. 

The Provincial Examinations, Student and Teacher Services Unit administers policies related to: credit requirements for secondary level completion; Grade 12 departmental examinations; teacher certification and accreditation; maintenance of a central registry of student marks at the Grade 10, 11, and 12 levels and student demographic information from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The Provincial Library is entrusted, through The Public Libraries Act, 1996, to coordinate the province-wide public library system. It fulfils this role by developing province-wide library policies, maintaining an electronic library information network, co-ordinating resource sharing activities, and providing cost-effective centralized services.

This branch works regionally to provide field support relating to the strategic plans and priorities of the Ministry of Education.  Regional services has core responsibilities in the areas of Early Learning and Child Care, Independent Schools and Home-based Education, First Nations and Métis education, and preK-12 policy issues. 

The Saskatchewan Literacy Office has been established to develop and coordinate a new literacy strategy.
