Certificates
Grades in which Certificates are Valid
Education Requirements
Professional A
Kindergarten to Grade 12 (all subjects)
Senior matriculation (Grade 12), four years of post-secondary education, Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent, including 48 semester hours of professional education including a practicum.
Endorsed Certificates:
Professional B
(endorsed in subject area)
Kindergarten to Grade 12 (limited to endorsed subject area and related areas)
Senior matriculation (Grade 12), a degree in an approved area of specialization (or equivalent), plus 48 semester hours of professional education including a practicum.
Vocational
(endorsed in subject area)
Kindergarten to Grade 12 (limited to endorsed subject area)
Senior matriculation (Grade 12), journeyperson's certificate or approved training in a trade, plus one year of teacher education including a practicum.
Technical
(endorsed in subject area)
Kindergarten to Grade 12 (limited to endorsed subject area)
Senior matriculation (Grade 12), two years of study in a defined technology at the post-secondary level, two years of work experience, plus one year of teacher education including a practicum.

 

The certificate issued to teachers educated outside the province is preceded by the word Provisional. These teachers must teach successfully for one year in Saskatchewan before receiving permanent certification.

Endorsed certificates are restricted certificates that limit teaching to the area of specialization endorsed on the teaching certificate, and may restrict employment in Saskatchewan.
