Following principles of fair assessment practice, the Assessment for Learning Unit monitors and reports on curriculum implementation, student learning and the K-12 school environment in which they occur. These activities are undertaken with a view to improve programs and professional practice and inform policy and decision making for the good and equitable education of all Saskatchewan students.

Saskatchewan participates in the following assessments:

  • Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP);
  • Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA); and
  • Progress in International Reading Literacy (PIRLS).

This page provides a brief description of the three programs and links to their respective web sites.

The Ministry of Education and the AFL Unit provide Saskatchewan students, teachers, school division personnel and strategic partners access to distributed online distance education and document sharing services through Blackboard.
