Human Services oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of intersectoral initiatives through its work with the Human Services Integration Forum (HSIF) and Regional Intersectoral Committees (RICs).

The HSIF and RICs are forums for critical analysis of complex issues, integrated decision making and resource allocation.  Provincial and regional intersectoral work mobilizes communities and human service service organizations by reducing barriers, addressing difficult social issues, rallying resources and improving integrated services and supports for children, youth and families, those at risk or living in vulnerable circumstances.

The HSIF is currently comprised of Assistant Deputy Ministers and other senior officials of provincial ministries that provide human services including:

  • Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration
  •  Justice and Attorney General
  • Corrections, Public Safety and Policing
  •  Municipal Affairs
  • Education
  •  Social Services
  • First Nations and Métis Relations
  •  Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport
  • Health
  •  Executive Council
  •  Public Service Commission

The HSIF and RICs have administrative, advisory and decision-making roles with a number of federal, provincial and regional grant programs including the:
