Saskatchewan-Québec:  Six-Month Exchange Program for Grade Eleven Students

Reciprocal Exchange Program for students in Grade Eleven:

  • This reciprocal exchange program first begins with students in Grade 10 applying to the program before the end of March. At the end of April, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education meets with the Quebec counterparts to review and select matches based on the student applications received. 
  • The program is available to Saskatchewan high school students who will be in Grade 11 during the exchange year and are currently studying the French language whether it be in Core French or French Immersion. 
  • In September, Saskatchewan students host students host the students from Québec for a period of three months.
  • At the end of January, Quebec students host the students from Saskatchewan.

ACELF: Exchange Program for Francophone Students through ACELF (Association canadienne d’éducation de langue française)  at  http://www.acelf.ca/

Students from francophone classrooms are twinned with the goal of sharing an exchange experience whereby each class will visit their twin community over a period of eight to ten days between the months of February to June.

Two scenarios:

  • Twinning of a classroom in Quebec with another classroom located in a francophone community from another province or territory
  • Twinning of two classrooms located in a francophone community

Exchanges Canada- www.exchanges.gc.ca offers a variety of youth exchanges through several delivery organizations one of which is:

Reciprocal home-stay exchange program ranging from one to two weeks for groups of Canadian youth between the ages of 12 and 17:

  • The groups are normally comprised of school student groups or youth belonging to well-known community groups.
  • The exchange takes place over at least five days not including the travel time involved.
  • The program begins in July of each year and finishes the following June.
  • The exchanges can occur at anytime during this period.

The cost of travel to-and-from the exchange destinations of the selected participants and organizers are paid by the Government of Canada through Exchanges Canada. Hosting groups must pay for local transportation costs as well as costs associated with hosting the exchange participants.
